AKSAI CHIN – The Forgotten Territory !!

Imagine you are out on a vacation locking your 2BHK apartment for a couple of week,and when you came back you found few of the people living in your drawing Hall room and claiming this is ours over a gunpoint and you are forced to accept your fate and now you have only 2 BK as your House. Sounds strange right ,totally unacceptable and we should boil with anger right. But this is a blunt truth; we lost 38000 square KM of our motherland to China , the forgotten “Aksai Chin” . This land is almost the same size as Bhutan.

1949, China got freedom as a nation, both our countries were facing different internal political,social and stability challenges as a newborn nation. But China was never trustworthy since the beginning with its venomous communist ideologies. In 1950 when Pandit Nehru, our first prime minister, was busy with constitution framing and conducting our first democratic election,during the same time ‘Mao Zedong’s’ Communist China started its ill operation over the Ladakh region of flatland Aksai Chin. He claimed it as their territory ,stating this land was part of ancient China. It was very strange because till 1920’s none of Chinese map claimed that part , Aksai Chin was totally integral part of British India even before independence and it’s clear after the Shimla Convention of 1914. When Nehru Government wake up over this major border issue bursting on the gate over the cost of national security ,they claimed everything is smooth in 1954 with Panchsheel Agreement ,were the famous slogan “Hindi Chini Bhai Bhai” was given

,let me remind you this was totally pre internet era and the only source of information and broadcasting was government themself with their own mediums. This agreement was totally one side ,were we got only a slogan to console ourself as peace ,and we lost the Strong sound over Tibets freedom during same.

In 1957 one of China’s newspaper claimed they have made world’s highest highway in their country over the land of Aksai Chin , Two years later when the national security was questioned infront of Nehru Govt , we found Indian Map losing China ,and it was 1959 already ten years were passed and China took a very strong military stand over Aksai Chin region of our beloved motherland. Three years later 1962 Indo – Sino war made their claim even stronger ,China came inside North eastern frontier agency i.e. Tawang region of today, and post end of war ,they got back from Tawang region ,but this war gave them time for complete grabbing occupation of Aksai Chin ,and since then it’s one of the major border issue of our country. Indian government was totally failed in anticipating China’s agressive status leading towards war.

Nehru’s Panchsheel Agreement and “Hindi Chini Bhai Bhai” policy was shattered in pieces on the cost of India losing its 38000 square km of territory. It’s a Blunt Truth which is hard to deliver and totally unacceptable to forget . Now it’s all on us ,are we going to recorrect this major political blunder which happened post independence or Aksai Chin will always remain as forgotten territory.

Fact :- In 1960, Zhou Enlai (Premier of China) unofficially suggested that India drop its claims to Aksai Chin in return for a Chinese withdrawal of claims over NEFA (Tawang).

Fact :- About the loss of Aksai Chin, Nehru is reported to have said in Parliament “not a single blade of grass grows there.” Mahavir Tyagi, a senior Congress leader, pointed to his bald head and said: “Nothing grows here … should it be given away to somebody else?”
